msql error can not connect to host

Miss_Smiley

I host a forum as part of my advanced web hosting package and have just had a msql error saying it could not connect to my host database. Now nobody ahs been playing about with it and in fact I havent been in the database for weeks.

Both my sites have got the same error and are served via two different databases that are hosted via BT.

Can anyone tell me what is happening?

My site is doing it too. it looks like BT's database server is down. I don't suppose there is much you can do except wait for it to come back up.

Well, that's interesting. I'd hate to point you to support as that seems to be all we've been doing on this forum lately but I think this would be a server issue. Give BT support a call assuming you haven't change anything in your code. Double check Database Manager and make sure you have the correct host name in the code but I wouldn't expect anything to have changed unless you manually did so.

How do we contact support? Everytime i call i get someone who seems like they are reciting prewritten quotes that offer no help?

I agree with you on the contact numbers I spent a good hour traweling through numbers to finally get to someone who knew what I was talking about. BT did not know that their server was down either, which made me even more frustrated. It did take a couple of hours to get back online but how many of us have lost custom etc through this.

Did someone not think to put 50p in the meter?
