Can anyone help me? I published my website yesterday but I cannot access it unless I start with http://home.btconnect.com/www
Is there anyway I can just use www+mywebsitename? Many thanks.

The problem is now solved. Spoke to a very helpful chap at BT (John) who has now transfered the site to my own domain. I can now go straight to it and hopefully so will the search engines.
Hi there,
Sounds like you have selected the option to manage your free web space instead of your domain name. When you go to myoffice.bt.com and navigate to Your account > Manage Services > Web hosting you should have the option to manage your domain as well as the free space. Do you have this option?
Thanks
Hi
The options I have under Manage web hosting (awaiting activation)are: 1. Register a domain name to activate this web hosting package .2 Your free Webspace is http://home.btconnect.com/www.lyntonnursing.co.uk
3. Manage your free webspace and 4. Change FTp password for http://home.btconnect.com/lyntonnursing.co.uk
Thank you for your help
Hi there,
You need to click on Register a domain name to activate this web hosting package. Once you have done this it will be available for you to edit.
Thanks
Hi Spank,
I have already registered the domain name www.lyntonnursing.co.uk at a cost of £11.50 and BT has already sent me an email to congratulate me on the activation. I have tried all the options offered and there doesn't not seem to be any way I can amend or edit the website address. Thank you for continued help. If all fails I will need to get someone else to host my website. I have to say, I am disappointed that I am stuck with http://bthome etc etc.
I am half way to resolving the problem. I had a call from BT this morning to see how I was getting on and I told them about the address issue. The chap said that it seems to be a problem their end and he would get back to me within 24 hours. Since then I now seem to be able to manage my domain rather than BT webspace. However, in order to activate the domain name it is still taking me to http://bthome.com/ first. So I'll wait for the call tomorrow.
