server issue

Hi folks yesterday i took out the £5pm package and i am having difficullty uploading my site through dreamweaver. i have enterd all the details and checked them and double checked them and when i try to link to remote server i get a message syaing: An ftp erroer has ocured-can not make connection to host. the remote host can not be found.

i also get this message aswell:

Please help i have been through the forum but can not seem to find what i am looking for

With Dreamweaver, I find with works better with the IP for the ftp host, with my same user and pass.

If that doesn't work, you may want to call tech support to make your ftp access has not been turned off...it happened to me about a month ago.

i am going to sound really daft just now but EH??? do you mean i should insert IP.reptilehunter.org.uk

since we're on shared hosting, your ip may be 209.235.144.9, so your host would be 209.235.144.9 and keep the rest the same. Also if your host directory is not public, it may result just hanging and not connecting

i tryed putting in the ip address and then i get the big message which is the picture in post. when i put in ftp it comes up with Connecting to, then it starts to buffer for about 5 seconds then i get the message can not connect to host. remote host can not be found,

I could SCREAM,lol i dont want to use bt's web desinger because well it just looks guff,lol

By any chance, do you have another software to test? Something like Filezilla, Cyberduck, etc. You would use the same settings for host, user, and pass. 

Also you can try ftp://reptilehunter.org.uk@reptilehunter.org.uk in your broweser. I would recomend to do that in Firefox. IE has to many steps to access it. Once you type or copy-paste it should either ask you for both user and pass or just the pass.

If that works,  then make sure these are the settings

Access: FTP
FTP Host:  209.235.144.9
Host Directory: public
Login: reptilehunter.org.uk
Password: you password

Make sure it's accepted in you Firewall settings

If all else fais, if might be an internet issue

Sorry i know you probably think im an numpty,lol

i tried the copy and past into the browser and it lets me into the ftp but i cant do anything with it, im getting myself so frustrated its just not funny anymore.

I think im going to have to wait until monday and call BT

I have it sorted.

Turns out that the server dosent like dream weaver so i used filezila and everything is up and running well kind of just modifications to make but i can now connect to the server so if any one else is having this problem this would proabably be the best option to try and dont be like me and spend 7 hours screaming at the computer.
