This is one of the frustrating things! my bt eshop is down and customers cant access my site as there is a page saying - closed and will be back at 4.00am as we update online shop! Why does BT not make me aware that this is going to happen? This has happened a number of times now!!

Not only can my customers not get to the site neither can i to make changes!   Isn't there a SLA that defines the times when updates can take place?

Maintenance

2.8 BT will use reasonable endeavours to provide a minimum of 72 hours’ notice of any planned

maintenance activity. Where significant Service affecting maintenance is planned BT will use

reasonable endeavours to provide 7 days’ notice. However BT reserves the right to:

(a) Conduct routine maintenance of the Service (including if necessary the right to render the

Service unavailable) without notice on Tuesdays between the hours of 8am and 10am.

(b) Provide emergency maintenance and updates at any time without prior notice.

It seems to have been beneficial as there is now a new feature for short URLs which should improve SEO.

it may just be that they get you to your page with a short url rather than having to put the whole long url into the address bar on in communcations.  once there, the full url is displayed...
