Hi everyone,
I recently noticed my website received hundreds of backlink hits in a short period. Looking at my backlink tool reports, they are all coming from generic throwaway domains (like .site, .space, .website) with identical URL paths and spammy anchor text promoting SEO tools/services.
I checked a few of my direct competitors and noticed some of them are receiving similar automated backlink bursts as well.
Since I haven't done any spam outreach or purchased any links:
Is anyone else currently seeing a surge in these automated bot networks?
Is standard practice still to completely ignore them relying on Google's SpamBrain, or is it safer to disavow at the domain level?
Thanks for your advice!
Automated bot networks frequently launch large-scale spam link campaigns using throwaway top-level domains to target website owners and manipulate crawler patterns across entire industries. You do not need to disavow these links unless you receive an explicit manual action warning in Google Search Console, as Google's SpamBrain AI system automatically identifies and ignores toxic backlink bursts without penalizing your search rankings.
