FTTP IPv6 with pfSense

Hi All,

BT's (not so) Advanced IT technical support that comes with my service is refusing to help me with IPv6 (joke).

I am trying to get IPv6 up and running with pfSense but no matter what guide I follow I just can't get it working.

I've got pfSense plugged direct into the ONT rather than using the BT router in the middle.

Has anyone managed to get this working and can throw some settings my way?

I did plug the BT router into the ONT and picked up the following but I've no idea how to apply them to pfSense:

-=IPv6=-
Global unicast address: 2a00:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx::1/64
Global unicast prefix / length: 2a00:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx::/56
Link local address: fe80::xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:dff9
Remote link local address: fe80::xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:ad40

Global unicast address: 2a00:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:fe27:285f/64
Link local address: fe80::xxxxx:xxxx:fe27:285f/64

Thanks in advance.

Hey, looks like that was the issue...

They must lock it down unless you use their router. They have done the same with the cellular backup now. You used to be able to take the SIM card out and use it in another device which I had wired into an external antenna for better performance but now I'm forced into using their Hybrid system.

As i'm new to IPv6 i'm just struggling to understand the difference in how the IPs are assigned. I've got DHCP disabled and RA - Assisted selected. What is the difference?

I suggest you send a PM to PaulC1 with as much info as possible so he can respond tomorrow. On this public forom you should not post any private info, but in in a private message to the mods, you can include your BT account number and details of your router, hub and firewall if any.
