Multi-Link PPPoE

Does BT support Multi-Link PPPoE? It seems that second lines are now a standard offering. Assuming you have the appropriate hardware, is this supported?

Hi sufo

We do not sell a specific Multi-Link service. We can provide multiple lines and you would then need to look into how you would use this lines for such a set-up. You can see our connectivity solutions here.

Thank you for your reply. I understand that this is not a separate service you supply and that, from BT's perspective, I would simply be in receipt of 2 DSL lines. My query is really around whether or not the requirements for MLPPP over multiple links are met.

These requirements are, typically, that:

- the two PPP links come from the same server (I would assume this would be the case)

- the two PPP links accept the same credentials (this is the case as the standard BT PPPoE login would apply)

- and finally that the server has the MLPPP over multiple links feature enabled

Given that the PPPoE servers will be highly resilient (hence modern) - designed to provide uninterrupted residential internet connectivity - and undoubtedly supporting an enterprise feature set, it's likely that MLPPP over multiple links is supported. Whether or not it is enabled is something I would not be able to ascertain until I actually test the configuration, and ideally I'd rather not order a second line on the off chance that it is (though if I have to, I most probably will).

As such, any insights regarding this configuration server side would be greatly appreciated as they could perhaps save me considerable exploratory costs.
