Find out which BT Business Hub you've got.
Every wireless and wired network device has a unique identifier called a MAC (Media Access Control) address. Your BT Business Hub reports which devices are connected according to their MAC addresses. By setting up MAC address filtering, you can choose which devices are allowed to access your Hub and which aren't.
This step is pretty advanced and can cause problems accessing your hub in future. As a rule of thumb if you're not familiar with how to find out your device's MAC address we'd recommend that you don't make these changes unless you're extremely concerned about security.
To manage your MAC addresses:
BT Business Hub 3:
- Open your web browser and type 192.168.1.254 or http://btbusinesshub.home into your address bar. Tap the Enter key on your keyboard.
- Click the Settings tab.
- Enter in your admin password and click on Ok. If you've not changed this you can find it on a card slotted into the top of your hub.
- Select the Advanced Settings and then Continue to Advanced Settings.
- Click to select the Wireless tab and then MAC filtering.
BT Business Hub 2700/2701:
- Open your web browser, type http://home or 192.168.1.254 in the address bar and press the Enter key.
- Click on the Settings tab.
- Click on the LAN tab, which appears below the Settings tab.
- Click on the Wireless link, which appears below and to the left of the LAN tab.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page.
- Under MAC Filtering click on the Edit Blocked/Allowed list link.
- Check the Enable MAC filtering box. Devices which have already connected are listed in the Allowed Devices list.
- To disallow a listed device, select it and click on the >> button.
To add a device which is not listed, enter its MAC address in the Enter MAC address field and click on the Add to List button.
- Click on the Save button.
- You might be asked to enter your Hub password. If you haven’t changed it, your password is the same as the serial number on the bottom of your Fibre Hub.
- Reconnect any devices you want to use to access the Internet wirelessly.
