BTconnect emails being discontinued

Please can someone tell me if btconnect pop legacy email addresses are being discontinued.  If this is to happen then there will be a lot of people who will be disrupted, both on a personal level and business level.   We have been told this is happening by someone who works at BT but it doesn't seem they are going to let anyone know.   Surely that can't just stop using the server without letting anyone know?

But you will have to get a new email as btconnect via web is not practical for a business.  Hire an IT consultant to set you up, it will be cheaper in the long run.

So why am I worried?

Variouo staff mebers tell me that as I have moved away from bt as my internet provider, due to shocking service and rude staff, we will shortly lose the scfaftec@btconnect.com mailbox.
