ASSISTANCE PORTING OUT BT BUSINESS NUMBERS

Robjones
Member

Hi there

I'm looking for the correct person to connect with to discuss moving some landline numbers across to another provider.

I've tried the BT Business WhatsApp group but no response so far.

Hi Robjones

Typically ports are dealt with by the gaining provider (so whoever you are moving to). Depending on the numbers, they may ask for something like a Letter of Authority with some details of the phone numbers so they can look to port them over.

Hi Robjones,

To move your landline numbers to another provider, you don’t need a specific BT contact.  The process is done entirely by the gaining provider. They submit a port request to BT (known as an LOA - Letter Of Authority), and once that’s received, BT will either approve it or flag any mismatches (postcode, account name, or CLI details).

A few things to check before they submit the port:

  • The numbers must still be active on your BT Business account

  • The account name/ number and postcode need to match BT’s records exactly

If you want to double check the details BT hold before the number port goes in, feel free to get in touch.
