Excuse me if I am rambling like a lunatic but I do feel like I am losing my mind. I can't believe how incompetent BT is. If it was up to me we would switch to another provider but my boss thinks it would be too much hassle...
We have agreed to a Sogea + CVE system and had our order/contract cancelled 3 times. So BT keep sending us phone base stations and handsets but no Hub has been sent. No explanation why. Which was fine until they switched the analogue line off today (ADSL) still working so we didn't notice until late.
This happened even though we called them yesterday again to let them know that no hub recieved -so we can't plug in the phone base station to the hub as per the provided instructions - we were advised quite clearly that the order had actually been cancelled on the 13th April and when I asked why he said "it just says system failure"! So he reassused me the phone line would continue to work.
During that call I asked if the Yealink basestation can be connected to our current network with an ADSL connection. Straight forward and confident "no it wont work." OK.
Also got a customer service or support call from Unify Networks who said they would call back when they could read up on the history and understand the issue but never did call back.
Found that I can divert inbound calls to our business number to a mobile for the time being so not the end of the world - just can't make outgoing calls.
I have read that the cloud voice express should work through any connection that can access the internet even from another provider. So should I try it or is it likely to bugger something up?
Why is our internet still working ? Surely the ADSL is an analogue system too. If the router should disconnect is it not going to be able to reconnect?
I am only sharing part of the nightmare we are having with BT. We have been trying to do this switch since july last year and have spoken to a football team of different people - but I don't wan't to bore you with a whole novel.
So can the basestation be connected to ADSL? Also why is ADSL still working - is it likely to go off at any moment?
Why is BT so disorganised and dysfunctional?
Hi drcl
I'm sorry to hear about the issues you've had with this order. With ADSL there could be issues if the speeds are very poor and therefore would struggle to hold the calls but otherwise no I see no reason it wouldn't work.
Well they turned the ADSL off soon after so brought in a spare 4g router and been using Smarty mobile for internet. After several weeks we are now on SOGEA.
