1571 - new messages?

Can anyone tell me how I know if I have new messages on the 1571 service?

You can receive text alerts advising when you have new messages on 1571. This link might help.

But my question was actually about the landline 1571 service. I've only just got it and don't know how to find out when I have messages...?

When you have message you receive stutter (interrupted) dial tone when you pick up your phone to make a call.
