5 static IP's - how to setup one of them to Cyberoam so i can do VPN on it?

Hello,

can anybody explain me how this stuff works on BT side?

we order BT bussines broadband with 5 static ip and receive such information:

You’ve ordered a range of Static IP addresses, which contains 8 addresses from 81.*.*.217 to 81.*.*.221. Three of these are reserved:

  • network address: 81.*.*.216
  • router/Hub address: 81.*.*.222
  • subnet mask address if you have 5 Static IP addresses: 255.255.255.248
  • subnet mask address if you have 13 Static IP addresses: 255.255.255.240

Equipment that i have is:

Wi-Fi router Cyberoam CR25wiNG and DSL modem TP-LINK TD-8817

I have setup DSL to connect to internet, but each time then it's connect - it got different IP adress.

I need at least one of IP adress (.221) will be accessible from WAN to do VPN via it. So I put DSL modem to bridge mode, but if I a set static IP adress to WAN interface - it's want go. If dinamic - everthing ok. I can connect to internet.

So my question is - how can i use one of static IP to have it accessible outside? Anybody can please explain that? I do not need direct instruction how to setup my equipment, but I would like (if that posible) got a "path" in generall how to use it.

As I undestand once dsl modem have a connection (no bridge mode) it's should be assigned to 81.*.*.222 and from any LAN computers i should see thi IP as my external IP?

Also what doest it mean "network address"?

Hi Dimitrij,

You should check out the following thread:

http://business.forums.bt.com/t5/Broadband-and-internet/BT-Fibre-Infinity-Guide-to-using-your-own-ro...

I documented how to use Static IPs with a BT Hub in:

http://business.forums.bt.com/t5/Broadband-and-internet/How-to-use-Public-Static-IPs-with-BT-Hub-3-B...

I hope that helps.

Thanks DAFlippers! It's helps a little to undestand, however this picture put all to the right places:

I find it in that topic: http://forum.kitz.co.uk/index.php?topic=2179.0

Finaly I got connected, put DSL modem to bridge mode without NAT, Cyberoam PortB set as dinamic IP and PPOE with BT credentials, PortA use for local network: 192.168.*.0 and PortC set as one of static IP - via it i can connect remotely now. Ntxt step for me will be setup a VPN with another Cyberoam but it's already another story 🙂
