Have you tried it with all wireless security turned off?     Does it still have the problem?    If not,  start from there and work up from basic WEP to see where it fails.

Have you updated the drivers for the network card?

When it is trying to connect does the hub show it connected at any time?

Can you check to ensure you have not accidentally given teh laptop a fixed address which is outside the local net?

Hi,

Have switched off firewall & W..S essentials with no success,  in the router it does not show it as connected. I have run the hub installation disc again it goes to connected with a tick then the wep key never gets accepeted, it then goes to manual config enter the 233 then the wep key and still no joy.  it seems to point to the wep key not being reconised by the hub, the key does work because i've retyped it into another pc which works!

I will comment "You did what!" the installation disk is not actually required and can cause more problems that it is worth.

I would suggest accessing teh hub and defining your own security key,  and then doing a manual configuration on the two PCs with the same key.
