BT Broadband Voice and Asterisk PBX

nick_wong

Hello,

Has anyone managed to set up the BT Broadband Voice service as an outgoing trunk on their Asterisk based server?

I have had a terrible time trying to get the following questions answered by BT (in order to use it with Asterisk):

+ What protocol does BT Broadband Voice use (eg. SIP?)

+ Are SIP (or other protocol) registration details available to end users (so we can configure Asterisk to use this trunk) ?

+ How many simultaneous (outgoing) calls can be made on a single BT Broadband Voice trunk?

If anyone knows the answers PLEASE post a reply!

Thank you

Nick

Hi Nick

1. Business voip uses SIP protocol

2. Bt will not supply the information but if you know where to look you can find this.

3. think the max is 8 but less would be more stable.

Hope this help.

Hi there,

I thought the same as Nick_Wong thinking that BT can handle more than 8 calls. Thanks for clear and concise answers.

Can you suggest where we might look?

My SIP account setup asks for a domain but does not specify? Is this my business URL?

So it means that the lesser calls you are handling, the better and stable connection you'll have. Is there a limit where you can get the most stable connection?
