BT Business Hub 3 - Remove static IP mapping for non-existent devices.

Hi,

I have a BT Business Hub 3 (the one like a home hub) and have 5x static IPs.

I assigned several static IPs to VMs, however since assigning the mappings I have deleted the VMs.

Now when I try to assign these static IPs to other VMs, I cannot see those previous IPs in the list to allocate.

I assume I need to deallocate them somehow, however as these machines no longer exist, I cannot select them from the "devices" list in the "business network" screen, and remove the static IP mapping.

Soooooo , how do I remove static IP mappings for machines that no longer exist, and add these IPs back into the pool for allocation.

Thanks.

Windows server 2008 and windows 7 actually gives you the opportunity to remove static IP address configuration.Go to the command prompt, set environment variable,go to device manager click on show hidden devices,it will show you the devices that no longer exist. When you delete the devices from that list the static Ip address become free for other use.

Thanks,

However, as mentioned in my post, these VMs no longer exist, they have been deleted. Therefore the MAC addresses are no longer appearing on the network.

Despite this, the static IPs that were assigned to these now deleted machines have not become free and are still not showing in the dropdown list of static IPs I can assign to other devices. The hub obviously believes they are still assigned, and I need to unassign them somehow.

Well after spending a couple of hours with BT support remoted onto my machine to try and fix this with no success (2nd line tried to convince me that the problem was due to my hub internal address not being one of my static IPs !!), I managed to get one address back myself.

I set the NIC on one of my machines manually to one of the "missing" static addresses. When it appeared in "business network" I then deleted the device, and then changed the NIC back to DHCP. Then I could see the static IP again in the list of available addresses for assignment.

Unfortunately, this trick isn't working for the 2nd missing static IP 😞
