BT Systems cannot cope with Web Upgrades - lost my site and admin access, 24 hours and counting!

Hi all,

I asked a question yesterday, if anyone else was experiencing issues with their eShop and there has been no reply, from which i assume that there were no issue - which is good news.

However, be aware when you try and upgrade from eShop to eShop Elite.  I did that yesterday as i needed one of the functions which was only available in eShop Elite and felt i had to pay the additional price as it may just increase my sales.

However, it seems the who BT systems failed to deliver a simple upgrade.  The first thing that happened was that i could not get into ePages through the BT portal when you click on teh Admin button - all I get was a message "Please order a Service from Bt Sales"!  But them I noticed that my website was also off line with a message:

Brief technical interruption

Unfortunately, our Web site is closed at the moment. We will be back to serve you soon.

Thank you for your patience.

It is now 24 hours since teh site being off line and no access to the Elite package.  What is amazing is the rather leisurely approach from BT in getting this fixed.  This morning i asked BT for an update and they said  - their diagnostic team is working on it.  I asked about my site being offline, and the response -  "Ohh, is your site not online?"!!  "We'll drop ePages an email and see if they can access the admin page and get your site back on"

Email????   Why couldn't they call???

I am sure if BT's website was offline for a few minutes let alone 24 hours they would be racing around getting it fixed.  But it doesn't matter if I lose customers, revenue, and my sites reputation....unbelievable!!!

Maybe time to find another service provider!!

Hey Whoknows, just checked and your site is up? I did notice a CSS error you have as well my earlier post below will fix the border issue:

http://btb.lithium.com/btb/board/message?board.id=Webhosting&message.id=3165&query.id=503837#M3165

Just put <style type="text/css"> before and </style> after the code in the post and put it in the 'HTML Head area' under General Settings > Advanced Settings

Hi Orchie,

Thanks, yep, the site is back, thankfully.  But only after i escalated the issue and it appeared to only take about an hour.  Question is why nobody from BT did anything yesterday when i first raised it?  Extremely poor customer service, thye just don't seem to understand that people Business Hosting usually means someone is running a business or business presence on the back of the websit , so when it goes offline, it means loss of revenue.

As for the border issue, i will address it as soon as i can access ePages..... Thanks

Sure, it seems to be only an error in IE7 & IE8, see the screenshot below:

You can fix this by copying the code below and pasting it into the 'HTML Head Area' that is under 'General Settings > Advanced Settings' in your back office:

<style type='text/css'> table { border: 0px none; border-collapse: separate; } </style>

Does this make sense?

No worries, IE is pain to code for as it's underlying engine is a pile of C**p. I found this website the other week that is a really useful tool for checking what your site looks like in old versions of IE and at different resolutions:
