DNS resolution is completely messed up with lots of duplicate and odd entries 10 range ??
I rang the helpdesk who were unintelligible and suggested I configure DNS on the local adapter ?
When I queried this they said that this issue was outside their remit and I would have to ring Computer IT support (paid) - at that stage I gave up
(bbbb was me testing)
Hi dmsims,
With the wire router, if devices are showing up in the 10. range this would generally be devices connecting to the hub via the BT WiFi/Openzone signal.
Do have have BT WiFi/Openzone enabled on your hub?
Regards
Mark
Nope BT Wifi not enabled
Should also add that before speaking to the unheplful desk I had cleared devices (which worked and they repopulated) and rebooted
The incorrect entries remained meaning programs which rely on IP resolution fail
Hi there,
Any chance that we have an unlicensed switch/ rogue DHCP server somewhere running on the 10. range?
It could even be some one setting up their own WAP and not setting it on your range, or disabling DHCP?
Worth while investigating.
You could isolate the router so only one machine is plugged directly into that and from there clear the device list.
That would let us see if the issue is on the wired or wireless side, from there we could re introduce the network section by section until the issue comes back.
Hope this helps

There are no servers - quite a simple Lan with router 3 PC, 2 network printers
The incorrect entries are for valid computers on the network within the correct DHCP range just the wrong (I guess old) IP address
Some more searching revealed this which tends to confirm the issue:
"The other day I was trying to do the same
(remove bogus entries from the DNS Resolution Panel)
Even the Clear all button will not get rid of the system entrys.
I have a lot of kit passing thru here and
some machines may end up with two or three entry's
depending on NIC count and connections used.
That, as it happens, will confuse the 2700HGV unit and
make name resolution on a local network either take ages or just fail."
Why would the helpdesk think it was not router related ?
BUMP
"BT has topped the UK's list of the most complained about broadband providers for the first time.
The report, covering the last three months of 2013, was published by Ofcom.
The communications watchdog ranks the five biggest internet providers based on the number of complaints it receives about them adjusted according to the number of customers."
Did you try BT's suggestion of unplugging everything but 1 machine, then see if you can clear the table?
I had an issue with a rogue wireless access which produced a table similar to this, i.e theres no way of getting android phones, iphones, ipods etc on a network without wireless, which was disabled on the router.
They also had dhcp enabled with the same network range as the router so i spotted it quickly.
