Hi,
Can anyone suggest a solution; currently divert 100% of incoming business call to my mobile.
Obviously costing me a fortune.
Got 2 lines on my business landline number, so they are not being utilised properly. Also got a dedicated line for bt broadband so paying quite a lot for this as well.
Landline one has an extension to a separate building, so can't have broadband on it ('accessories' on the line).
This was set up a few years ago, so don't know if things are any different now.
Want to consolidate all my telecoms to reduce my charges.
Any suggestions of the best way to do this would be gratefully received.
Many thanks for your time, hopefully somebody will have a creative solution.
Cheers
Tom
Hello,
You can have additional devices on the same line as the broadband as long as they are filtered. BT will provide 2 adsl filters with your order but they can be purchased from supermarkets/pc shops for under £5 if more are needed.
I do not know what your precise set up is but generally you can use the BB line for phone/fax/pdq/etc at the same time as your BB and there should be no problem with this as long as the set up is correct and all devices are filtered using the ADSL filters. You can only have one filter per BT wall socket or wall point. However, I would always recommend only having your Broadband router connected DIRECTLY to the main socket (through filter) but yes you can use other devices on extentions as long as they are filterd correctly.
If there is a problem with your BB at any point BT will insist you remove all additional devices off the line and plug the BB equipment in on its own to the main socket. This is the only way that BT are able to determine if the BB fault is within your premises (internal wiring) or outside your premises (BT fault). In actual fact BT only supply your BB to the main socket. It is the same with telephony. It is also only supplied to your main socket. Engineer installed extension sockets are covered by a 1 year warantee but likewise if you have a fault BT will always insist on testing from the main socket as this is the only way to determine where the fault is.
When you get BB it is filtered at the exchange to seperate the voice side of the line from the BB. Devices on the customers side also need to be filtered or the noise on the line gets scrambled and this will prevent the BB from working.
So you can have other devices working on the BB line at the same time as long as they are filtered correctly seperating the noise on the line from the BB side and the voice side.
Hope this is of some help.
Hi
There are a number of options available to consolidate your telecom services. The first thing you would need to look at is what services you need, then a sales agent could work with you to find the best solution for your needs.
For example:
You Need - to have a telephone line, broadband service, a Fax service and mobile service as you are out of the office a lot.
Solution could be - BT Business Line and a business Broadband service. As you have broadband and a computer you could sign up for BT PC FAX, which is a fax service via your email so saves the need for an additional telephone line or an actual fax machine. You could take out a BT Business Blackberry service for your mobile calls and emails on the move. This would be like an office out of the office, and as Fax's are sent to your email you could ensure you don't miss valuable Fax requests while out of the office. If you incorporate this into a One Plan Plus Service, you could save additional money. BT Business One Plan Plus is great for multi-sited customers or if you are on the move. You can avoid the high costs for calling your own BT mobiles within your business so could save on high costs of diverted calls to your mobile. You would also have the benefit of OneBill, where you just pay one bill.
That is just an example, and may not be the best solution for your situation. As each business is different, and their needs vary, BT Business services are separate and allow a business to choose the ones that suit them. Without knowing exactly what you have, and what you need it is hard to suggest a suitable solution. If you private mail me your account information and what kind of services you would be looking for, I can certainly look over the services that may be an advantage.
Kind Regards
