Hi,
I am having a nightmare with my BT router. I can't set up port forwarding!
The connected devices are as follows:
- Server complete with SBS 2011 and Exchange 2010
- BT Router brand new last week
- 1 x Static IP
- 1 x headache
Have logged into the router and set up port forwarding for the server in the firewall part of the router. Upon doing this I visited the http://www.canyouseeme.org/ and tested the ports, it said they were still blocked. I tried turning the router to DHCP and tried it without DHCP enabled. I ran the "connect to the internet" service on the SBS 2011, nothing has worked. Please note I followed the BT advice on port forwarding to the letter of the law, so know I am doing that right!
However in the "enter IP address" box which is below the list of connected devices, when I enter the IP address of the server (the internal IP address which has been assigned in network properties (would the subnet gateway number be causing any issues??)) and then try port forwarding etc. I get an error. I know the router uses MAC addresses instead of IP addresses due to the DHCP - has this got anything to do with the problem?
I tired flushing my DNS. Nothing.
Am I missing a trick? Do I have to ring BT and have them open the ports as they deem this a security issue? Surely they cant do that for everyone who owns their own server?
I have turned the server and the router off and on again multiple times. Nothing is working for me! Is the router broken?
Any help would be greatly received.
Chris
