Domain Name Transfer

fozzie

We have moved our domain name over to BT we only use it for emails and it is saying awaiting activiation does anyone know how long this takes, because as a business we currently cannot send or receive emails until it is all done.

We got our old provider to change the name tags over etc.

I have had different answer from BT from a few hours to 5 days, do hope it is not going to be 5 days.

Many thanks

If your domain name ends with .com, .net, .biz, .info or .org: Then you have to do..

You'll need an authorisation code called an AuthInfo Code from your domain supplier before you transfer. You should also make sure the administrative email address for your domain is one you still use.

1.    Get an AuthIndo code from your old provider.
2.    Sign in to Manage services.
3.    In the Domains section, click on Transfer a domain name to BT.
4.    The BT Domains Centre, Transfer in page is displayed.
5.    In the AuthInfo field, enter the AuthInfo code.
6.    Click on the transfer button.
7.    You'll get an email to your domain's admin email address asking you to confirm the transfer. You must click on the link in this email to authorise and begin the transfer.
8.    The transfer will take 7-30 days to complete. If you contact your old host, they may be able to speed this up.

The authoriezed will normally send you an email when your transfer is completed. System will then add the domain to your account, so you can set up email addresses and activate web hosting.
