I am total idiot technically and need someone patient to guide me thru the process of adding a pdf to my website (where customers can print off an application form). I don't understand many abbreviations. Many thanks

The simplest way to do this is to upload the PDF file to your webspace (Either in the Public folder or a folder within the Public folder) and then simply add a link to it, the same way you would link to a web page. Here's a useful link for any other general problems you may have:
