Importing a website

Hi there

I hope someone can help - a while ago I was playing with Microsoft Office Live and created a website for my business.  I had completely forgotten I had done this and registered a domain name with BT - my question is can I import the website I have already created and if so, how?

Cheers,

Linda

If the website in Microsoft Office Live has standard files that can be read online, for example .html files, then you can upload those files via ftp into your webspace into your public folder. You would need to have hosting in addition to registration to do this however.

Many thanks for your reply.

Sorry I am a complete novice when it comes to websites - I'm actually surprised I have managed to get as far as I have!  How do I know whether the files are .html files and how do I access the FTP - it's asking for a username and password but as I don't remember setting these up do you know how I can retrieve them?

Hi there,

If you are using a basic web building tool the files are most likely saved with a .html file extension on them which means they can display on the web.

However, in order to upload these files to a website you require a domain name and some webspace to upload the files to.

Accessing and uploading a site via FTP only becomes available once you have the domain and web hosting linked together.

If you require further assistance, or would like to speak to someone about this, please call 0845 600 7020 opt 2 and ask for the Value Added Services team.

Best regards
