We have moved to Super Fast Broadband and it stated that our fixed IP addresses would be transferred and the engineer would transfer the existing router settings to the new router. However, the engineer looked blank when I raised it and the new broadband router has gone back to variable IP addresses. Any suggestions?

Dear Mikro-NI,
I have checked your account with your Forum registered details and your Static IP is still applied to your account. The Static IP Address will need to be configured on the New 2701 router manually.
To apply these changes please follow the steps detailed on page 12 on the Small office network guide found here.
Please Note:- after saving the settings you may be asked you to enter the system password, this by default is the 12 digit S/N (Serial Number) of the router and can be found printed on the Routers white label. Once this has been entered click submit and your will receive the “Configuration Successful” Page. The statics are now set up on your New BT Business router
If you have not configured your Static devices manually with the Static IP Address’s you can do this on the router Configuration pages, details of how to assign static IP’s can be found on pages 13 / 14 of the Small office network guide.

John D
It's generally never been an option to transfer an IP from one account to another as the switch over will be counted as a completely new package and not just a speed regrade, you would usually be assigned a new static IP address, or it will be a dynamic IP if it wasn't specifically stated to be static when the order was placed. Also with regards to router settings, there's no function for transferring settings from one router to another (on the assumption these are business hubs). I can only apologise but it appears you have been miss-informed.
If you send me a private message by clicking my name then send private message at the right, include your broadband telephone number and I can have a look for you.
