Lost firewall settings/VoiP - all gone back to defaults except wifi

Late last week I found that I had limited internet access on my laptop when connecting via wifi to my BT2700 router - it has been faultless up till now for several years (2) ! I simply put it down to yet another Microsoft upgrade!

However when starting up my small home network this morning I found I had lost my VoiP phone line and worse all my firewall settings had gone back to default settings which is nothing short of a disaster if a hacker tries his luck! The wifi security settings appear to be intact though!

There does not appear to have been a firmware upgrade behind my back as the firmware version is still the same so what might be the problem here - any ideas?

Called the helpdesk 2pm Monday, left a callback message, called back within 15 minutes, helpdesk quickly agreed a new router, router arrived 8.30am Tueday (this morning, next day delivery) up and running within half hour with no problems. It does teach me to be more carefull about keeping all logins/passwords where I can find them though!

BT supplied the newer version 2701 hub and it seems to be quite stable and quick - I'm tempting fate I know!

Sometimes BT do get things right - so thank you BT for a change!
