Mail box size - bt connect.com

Rang up to sort this as I keep getting over my limit messages each night. Deleted file empty, sent box - 4 messages with no attachments, Inbox under 30 items with no large files. Said they would sort it but nothing happened. Is there an email contact/msg service I can make because I don't want to hang on again and again to be told something will be sorted and it isn't?

Hi Happyhoppy,

Are you deleting message from your webmail?  If this is on the old email service you can locate this at http://email.btconnect.com or new platform http://login.microsoftonline.com

Be sure to delete the messages from the deleted items too.  Also check up at the top (if on the old platform) to ensure that "unread messages" is not displayed.

If you have cleared out the deleted items, it can take upto 4 hours for the mailbox to register that it is no longer full.

Again if on the old platform you can login to http://myoffice.bt.com - manage services - email - manage mailboxes - highlight your email address and increase your storage.

There is a livechat facility that operates between 09:00 - 17:00 through the week which can be accessed via contact us under help and support on this site, however the phone support should be able to sort this out too on 0845 600 7020.

Thanks,

Steve

so it says I have 250mb but gives me no option to increase it. what now?

If you are using 250Mb of storgae, the best advice would be to store some older emails in a mail client such as outlook.

Alternatively delete email from the webmail service on http://email.btconnect.com

BT do not measure storage on your PC, the 250Mb only relates to storage on the above address.  Please remember to empty the deleted items and check that it is not set to unread messages.

If you only use the webmail service and wish to increase the storage further rather than delete emails, you can purchase and "orgainise and share" licence £4.50 per month or check to see if your account can be upgraded for free by logging into http://myoffice.bt.com - manage services - email - manage mailboxes and seeing if there is a button for upgrade centre.

Thanks,

Steve

I don't have outlook on PC, just use webmail at present. Is there an idiots guide as to how to set it up with this btconnect account to include all the weird and wonderful settings I need to use?

I would add, on the outgoing server tab, if you are on a BT broadband line do not tick the box that says the outgoing server requires authentication.
