Need help!!

Hi, everyone

I have been with BT broadband for 4 years and business for half a year now.

As far back as I can remember I have had awful speeds, At the moment I can get 1.2 mb's (download) on a line that can take 3 mb at the tops. with a 445k upload.

It has been fine for A laptop. But now there is 3 laptops + Xbox 360.

My connection can not take even two laptops, Talking about a Xbox 360 as well. Youtube/facebook are used alot...

Because, Of this and it is very frustrating and annoying. There is talk at the moment with BT about putting a new physical line up, And possibly a second broadband package.

However, I have had a think and a Engineer visit to check the sockets and cabling and having the new line would be good enough...

I have posted results on here before, and has been reported the cabling isn't bad. But, one thing I expect from BT is providing us with a new phone line free of charge, After the amount of years, and service that is incured.

I remember last year. I was offered a free phone line because my area isn't getting fibre, So my 21 first upgare was a 20 foot cable....

However, BT do tell lies. So I never got it, They didn't understand the word "free of charge". Too them that was non-existant.

And especially when we pay out £30 plus my Dad is a customer for his phone system at his work, Which cost near enough £1500 plus he has Business broadband.... and the thing about a second package,

My main question is what should I ask to be done.? What is the best thing to get 3mb or near enough and sort out bandwith/speed.

As I want everything speeded up!

Thanks.

Hi. Fiona

Just been called by someone and they have said, The cap was for the line to make it stable. They have now lifted this.

However, I will end up with un-stable broadband. Hopefully I will get my 3 mb now. I did ask if it is possible for a new physical phone line to be put up, too replace the current one. They said there is no such thing. So I guess that is it now...

Thanks for your help.

Hi

I have checked to see if you have contacted BT Business Technical for assistance with the speed issue and i can't find any contacts to them about a speed fault. Your line is showing as being capped, but without contacting the technical team to go through any troubleshooting there is no way for us to know why it has been capped or find out if there is any way to improve the service. At present you will have problems running several computers and a xbox off the current connection speed, as they will all be sharing the speed.

My advice would be to contact the technical helpdesk to find out if there is anything they can do to increase the connection speed first. If they can't, at least they will be able to give you a reason why they can't, and this will allow you to have more information to bring to other service providers if you decide to move (as you have outlined in your other posts).

Once you have contacted the technical team, you can private mail me the technical reference number and we can look at what, if anything, can be done to improve your speed.

Kind Regards

Hi. Fiona

Thanks for that information.

I am livid that BT have capped the line. They now from previous telephone enquires that the broadband is slow, And the fact I am on a "unlimited" usage which never actually gets overused.

I am going to go ahead and just wait and see what happens, But as soon as this contracts over. NO more BT.

Thanks

Hi. Fiona

.

Just been told it's my line that is why I have been capped.   What I was told

"The only reason this is ever applied is that the circuit is dropping as the speed it was trying to function at was not a stable speed."

"it may be an issue at the exchange which will have been identified."

Can I say I am not happy At All. Ok it isn't my fault the speed is bad, So BT should be out fixing it. If a new phone line is needed I am happy to get that done, If a enginerr needs to re wire the whole house. Then fine

If I need to say goodbye to BT I will.

Hi

If the connection speed is fluctuating a lot, or the connection is dropping the line rate will be capped to ensure that you get a stable connection. Did the technical team say anything else, are they going to look at why the connection may be dropping or fluctuating? If you can send me the reference number i will look at the notes on the technical case.

Kind Regards

Hi

That's no problem, I have a note of the reference number so i will keep an eye on the connection. If it does start dropping we can then have a better idea of why it is dropping and try and get a bit more information.

If you monitor it over the weekend and you can private mail me next week and let me know how things are.

Kind Regards
