New Fibre connection on phone line with 2 numbers?

Hi,

I have my new fibre installation booked for next week.  I have query about the installation and my setup.  I have one phone line and one line I use for fax, both on one physical line to one BT box where my phones and broadband is currently connected.  With the fibre installation on my second fax line where the broadband is currently will it affect my main phoneline in any way?

I only ask because at home I had fibre installed 2 months ago and I noticed that the phone sound quality was a bit poor.

Thanks

Congratulations on your new Fibre installation, thefurmanuk, in about a week, you will have an installation engineer who should be able to advise you about this.  If, however, you are unsure, please Contact Us

Do you mean two lines within a single wire?    Can you make/receive voice and fax calls at the same time?

I had my fibre installed today.  The engineer fitted another Openreach box and passed the 2nd line cable through it and stuck it to the existing box.

All done and good speeds 🙂

Thanks for confirming that and I'm glad you are happy with your speed so far.  It will vary within the first 10 days, keep your equipment powered on and connected during this time, after which your maximum rate will be established.

I have noticed that the initial speed was 37, after a few hours it went down to 23 then up again to 37 after I reset the hub and modem.  Today it is the same, 23 or 37.

Edit. Answered in another thread.
