Outlook Express 6 Problems

Unable to link 365 to Outlook Express 6.

Telling me I'm unable to connect to the server.

Any ideas?

hi there Gateway123

 

if you want to set up a new account follow the instructions below 

 

go to tools > accounts > add... > mail 

 

then enter the following information

 

name: yourname 

email address: your full email address i.e. youremail@youremail.com


next 

 

incoming server - pop.outlook.com 

outgoing server - smtp.outlook.com

 

next 

 

username - your full email address i.e. youremail@youremail.com


password - your password

 

next/done

 

then double click on the account you have just set up

 

you will be on the general tab click on the server tab 

click "my outgoing server requires authenitcation"

make sure this is using the same username an password as the incoming server 

 

then go to the advanced tab 

 

make sure that both the incoming and outgoing require ssl ( a secure connection) 

 

and make sure that they are using the following ports 

 

in - 995

out - 587

if you want to update an account you already have set up do the ffollowing 

 

go to tools > accounts

 

double click the account you want to update 

 

you will be in the general tab click on the server  tab 

 

change the servers to the following 

 

Incoming server - pop.outlook.com

Outgoing - smtp.outlook.com 

 

then make sure that your username is the full email address - i.e. youremail@youremail.com

 

thne click "my outgoing server requires authentication2 

make sure this is using the same username and password as the incoming server 

 

now go to the advanced tab 

 

make sure that both the incoming and outgoing require ssl ( a secure connection) 

 

and make sure that they are using the following ports 

 

in - 995

out - 587

 

 

ilet me know how that works out

 

you may have to use a post migration username -  to find out if this is the case go to

www.myoffice.bt.com 

go to email 

login 

the first screen you see will tell you if you need to use a post migration login
