Thanks for the explanation in your pt 2.  That's clear now.

For points 1 and 3: Unfortunately my LCR/speed dial doesn't seem to function in the way you describe.

This is what I do:

# I put the whole system into "LCR On" (Program -> System Programming -> Lines -> LCR Codes -> LCR On)

# Next, I dial a number manually, e.g. 07987etc.  Result: I get an error tone and the message "line not equipped", which shows that the LCR setting is in effect.

# Next, I try the speed dial (both Directory -> System Speed Dial and then I select something, or I dial 8xxx).  Result: I get the same effect as dialling a number manually.  That is, I also get an error tone and the message "line not equipped".

On further reflection, I would have thought that, in a 'usual' situation, the speed dial must also be subject to LCR, otherwise anyone using the speed dial (common in many offices!) would not get the benefit of the LCR...

What am I doing differently from your example?  Thanks!
