Registration Forms and deleted data

whoknows
Super User

Hi, when someone completas a form for the site and there is an error on the page - perhaps, email passwords do not match, or a piece of info is missing - the site refreshes the pages and highlights the error.  However, it also deletes all the data that the user has input, making them re-input ALL the information.

Is there a way to keep all the information entered by the user and highlight the error, hence the user doesn't have to re-key all the info.  This is not only frustrating for the user, but is stopping people from signing up or completing registerations particularly - reducing the number of potential customers and giving the site a poor user experience and poor reputation

Thanks

Hi Who Knows

I have spoken to the E-Shop team and they have asked for your access details to test your shop. If you can private message me your username and password they can run some checks on the shop and try and replicate the issue.

To Private message me, click on my name and select 'Private Message' on the right hand side of the screen.

Kind Regards

Hi, tried to send you a private message put the system just doesn't allow me to do so!!

Perhaps you can go to my shop at www.aregato.com  and complete a test Registration and leave soem required fields blank and hit enter and see what happens - the form data appears to get blanked out...

Ok...

  1. go to www.aregato.com
  2. on the right hand side you will see Register, under sign in - click Register
  3. you get teh registration form
  4. fill in the details as required.....BUTadd an incorrect email address (so leave out the @ or something) or mis type the repeated password...or some other error that the system will not like
  5. then hit create account button
  6. All the data in the fields disappears.....with the box where the error is left as highlighted in reddish pink
  7. at this point the customer needs to add ALL the details again....

Ideally only the error box should be re-entered, not all of the data.  Hope this makes sense
