Restricting access to only just 2 IP's on the 2701HGV

Hi

On the 2701HGV i can see the content screening and the specific protocols that you can tie down (although the 'all other procotol;s' is a bit large!) is there anyyway to restrict all outbound access to just two IP's? Basically to just tie the access down to two external VPN addresses.

Thanks

Terry

Hi

I've just fired up my 2701HGV (I don't use it normally) and had a look for you.

There's no way that I can see to restrict outbound traffic.

My old Netgear DGN2000 (and the DG834G before it) had both inbound & outbound firewall control.

With that kind of router you could:

1) Set static IPs for the machines you want to allow Internet access to

2) Set up a block on all outbound traffic

3) Set up exception rules on the firewall for outbound traffic (either specific or all ports) for only the IP addresses specified.

I can't think of a way you could do it via the BT hub if you want to keep all machines on the same network.

Thanks for the reply Milo 🙂

I gathered as much! .. I dont rate them at all.. but i suppose they do the job.. I would expect maybe the home version would be like that but the business one should expect some more level of control (unless they just expect business to ditch that in favour of another)

Thanks again.. Ill get the businesss to replace with a suitable alternative 🙂
