Router suitability.

We're joining BT and I would like to know whether or not my Billion 7300 router will suffice?

Your welcome.  The router you currently have has wireless 'n' and the business hub doesn't have this, its wireless 'g'.  I haven't put both routers side by side but I would expect your current router to have a better quality and signal strength, but only if you are using wireless cards that are also 802.11n, if your desktop/laptop wireless card is 802.11g then you would have no benefit using the router.  Just to add I think that you should have a backup router (whether its the business hub or another third party router), its always handy for testing or if your router 'blows' then you have a backup so you can get online within minutes instead of disrupting a whole days work getting out to get a new one.

I hope this helps

I checked online for the spec of your router and it will support ADSL/ADSL2+, so if your getting broadband with us yes it will work on the line.  Please note though that the technical helpdesk will not support 3rd party routers, they can only support products that they provide so if you have to make changes in the router or have to reset the router you should be able to guide your way through the router to go through the setup yourself, if you are not confident in this you can ask to be signed up with the IT Support Manager product and they will support 3rd party routers and help you guide through the setup etc, alternatively you could go for a broadband package which includes a BT supplied router and keep hold of your own router as a backup.

Thank you PocketAces for your reply, my only concern was, would the supplied router give me the same coverage as my existing BiPAC 7300N router.
