We appear to have been the victim of line slamming by BT Retail.
In November last year the line number for one of our sites in Nuneaton was taken over by BT Retail despite the request for transfer having been refused on three occasions by our telecoms supplier.
The number was apparently handed out to a van hire company in Coventry although having spoken to them we understand that they have never requested or indeed had use of that number.
This all came to light when the phones at our Nuneaton site stopped working, we reported this as a fault to our supplier, they subsequently found that they no longer had control of the line and were therefore unable to progress the fault.
One of my colleagues managed to speak (eventually) to the BT Retail slamming team who said that there was not a fault with the line but there was an outstanding charge and the line had been suspended pending payment and that is why our site can no longer make or receive calls.
We have been informed that it could take up to 14 days for the service to be restored once the request for transfer (back to us) has been received and frankly we think this is ridiculous. We are the victims of an administrative error that was nothing to do with us, why should we suffer commercially for your companies mistake ?
I would appreciate it if you could assist in getting this corrected as soon as possible.
