What causes sudden high ping speeds

simonbratt99

Hi

Have ADSL2+ up to 8mbps in an office environment.

Sometimes the ping speeds can hit over 1000ms

Normally its fine at 43ms (with weirdly and quite often over 8mbps down and 0.3 up)

Using www.speedtest.net

thanks

Hi

I am really sorry that no one on the forum has been able to offer any advice with this. Broadband services are described as 'Up to' a certain speed. This is because high-speed broadband doesn't come as a fixed speed - it's flexible. Often, the speed you get will be automatically adjusted. This is to make sure you're getting the fastest, most stable broadband service that your phone line can support.

The Ping Spikes could be caused by a number of factors both inside and outside the BT Network, so normally a trace route would be carried out to see if they can determine where and what is causing an issue. I can see from your account that you have already been in contact with the technical team about this issue, they will be contat with you to discuss this further.

Kind Regards

Fiona
