Why pay so much

Someone explain why I pay the same as someone payday loans online that gets over 8MB download and I only get 1.5MB on a good day?

Because your paying for a up to 8mb Product,

so basically bt will provide a broadband service as quick as your line can handle up to 8MB,

The higher BW, the higher you need to pay. However if this is for home use, you don't need to go above 1.5Mbps. If you have 8Mbps for home use, it's like buying a ferrari but using it everyday in driving towards a traffic, not being able to fully utilize its speed.
