Yet again reading through this forum I am shocked on how a company who makes millions a day cannot do the most basic of tasks and activate a new phone.
We moved into new premises on the 31st January after the previous owners left the week before. We had to move out of the old one as the centre we were in was being demolished and rebuilt. A simple request to turn on the telephone line with the a new number was all that we wanted and by gosh, seems to be harder than moving all our stock and equipment. we ordered on the above mentioned date and we were sent a text saying it would be ready Feb. 23rd. 3 weeks to "plug us in" or "Press a few buttons" or however bt engineers activate our line. (it wouldn't take 3 weeks to deactivate if we owed them money though.
Anyway time was getting on and then received a text again saying now our date to "plug us in" was now changed to the 23rd of march. now is it me or does it normally take your company 7 weeks to install a business line into a shop that's just trying to make a few pounds to get by. So we are up and trading, but we cannot trade because of the delay. we cannot make business cards as people who phone our new number cannot get through, we have to rely on mobile phones and broadband dongles which don't give a good signal where we are. we cannot work as we deal with computer upgrades and other electronic work that involves the good ol' internet. I have called BT on the phone and said there is nothing they can do. That is the earliest an engineer can call to us.
By the end of the 7 weeks. That's if the engineer turns up " which I have seen over 20 posts of them doing that Why does he need to call as the phone was working a week before we moved in and nothing has been altered.
Surely things must change. Openreach playing livelihood and mind games with people that just ask for a simple task.
7 weeks and then they will want £120 + when we have lost 20 times that in revenue trading by the time we get a phone.
As many of asked, are there any people, or alleyways I can go down to get my line quicker. I read here I think that if you pay a certain fee bt will do in 72 hrs, but BT are telling me no such thing.

Hi Nerotech,
Sorry to read about the problems that you are having with your order.
I am afraid this is not something that we can assist you with on the forum.
I would suggest speaking to the telephony order team who would be able to assist you with this further.
Thanks

Hi and thanks for the reply
They have basicly said there was a 7 week delay due to the bad weather last year. All other utility companies got us sorted in under 2 weeks. unfortunately openreach is still 7 weeks.
Seems openreach is not handling its buisiness as other companies and it doesn't help with them soly monopolising the market for fresh installations
