bt versatility voice module

Hello Everybody.

 

We have the BT Versatility system and had a blue voice module which we used to use only once a year at Christmas when we were closed for two weeks. We used to record a message explaining we were closed and when we were to reopen. Last year when we came to set it it was all crackly. Last year's message sounded all crackly and so did the voice instructions. We decided it must be broken so purchased another one online and swapped them over. But now the system does not seem to recognise that there is a voice module there at all. When I press message and the select 'Voice messaging' it just says 'invalid' and beeps. This is the case for both the old module and the new. When I put one of them in the phone system goes dead for a while and looks as though it is installing something. Please could someone help us.

Try inserting the new  cartridge then switch the power and battery back up off for 30 seconds. Switch the battery back up on and then the mains power.

Where are you based.
