I run SBS2003 and since BT started to upgrade there system I have no end of issue with my emails

I now can no longer send emails via smart host smtp.btconnect.com since wednesday .... BT Where was the communication !!!!!!

Tried using smtp.outlook.com and this wiill not work either

Tried to phone the helpdesk and they want to charge me for their help... even though they have made a change and not communicated......

Can anyone help me with the correct server name  for smtp smart host or how to set up the DNS option

Not sure on the MX records aspect

Thank you

I'm also looking for this information. Seems smtp.outlook.com will only accept mail from the authenticated user the email is coming from.

I have just biten the bullet and contacted BT Server support. They were helpful and changed the mail delivery option from smtp to DNS. They also suggested getting a reverse DNS setup on our domain and are doing that too. We're using SBS 2011. You could look at this to see if it helps you http://www.sbslinks.com/DNS_Smarthost.htm and the article also mentions the pros/cons for each method and issues around reverse DNS.
