Posting here because there doesn't seem to be anywhere else to go.
Am a sysadmin for an organisation with MANY sites, many that aren't well documented. May have alarm lines, door access controls, etc
Started identifying lines when they were in the thousands but still struggling with the last 300 or so.
Is there anyway to identify a phone/broadband line and get it to 'make a noise' or react in some way so we can identify what they are connected to?

Are these lines terminated into sockets (i.e Openreach NTE5) or are they hard wired? I know alarm lines etc. can be routed in a number of different ways. The standard methods I know of identifying if a copper line is live relies on there being a RJ11 connector but if you can let me know I can ask around.
