Scams

I've received a letter from a debt collection agency claiming to be chasing an unpaid bill from 2010. The letter doesn't quote the phone number involved, the account number or name, or the address it relates to. They enclosed a letter apparently from BT but it doesn't look like a genuine BT letter, and it arrived in the same envelope as the debt collection agency's letter.
I'm fairly sure its a scam, but wanted to talk to BT about it first.

45 minutes of listening to endless menus, and countless requests for the phone number I'm calling about have left me cheesed off and close to throwing the phone out of the window.

Can anyone give me a telephone number where I can talk to a BT person about this potential scam, please?

Anyone?

Hi,

Who is the debt collection agency and have you googled them to see if they are a legitimate organisation? Without any details BT Business would be unable to check any accounts. A phone number or account number would be needed.

Thank you,
