Find out which BT Business Hub you've got.
If you're having problems connecting to your broadband or Internet, the quickest and easiest way to solve these issues is by completing a controlled shutdown and switching back on of your equipment. This is called 'power cycling'. To do this:
- Unplug the power supply (AC/DC) from the back of your hub or router.
- Leave it switched off for 10 seconds.
- Plug the power supply back in.
- Wait a few minutes while it restarts, then try connecting to the Internet.
Knowing what the lights mean on your router or hub, can help you find out what the problem is - go to our Find out what the lights on your hub mean and troubleshooting guide.
Factory Reset:
If unplugging hasn't worked you might want to do a factory reset. This will return your hub or router to its default settings, discarding any changes you've made to it:
- You'll need to re-enter your network ID and password.
- You'll also need to reconfigure any static IP, wireless security or firewall rules you may have set up.
- If you have a BT Business Broadband Voice package you'll need to reactivate it.
To do a complete factory reset, removing all personal settings:
- Use a PIN or paperclip to press and hold the recessed Reset button on the back of your BT Business Hub 2 for 15 seconds until your hub lights go out.
- Release the Reset button and wait for the hub's Broadband light to glow green. This may take several minutes.
Alternatively, you may reset your BT Business Hub 2 using your Business Hub Manager:
- Open your web browser and type http://home or http://192.168.1.254 in the
address bar and press Enter or your return key.
- Click on the Settings tab.
- Click on the Diagnostics tab.
- Select the Resets link.
- In the Reset to Factory Default State section, click on the Reset button.
You may be asked to enter your password - if you haven't changed it, the default password is the same as the serial number on the side of your Hub.
You can find more information in the hub user guides.
