BT2700HGV Business Hub getting invalid external IP address (10.) from DHCP

We have a business broadband service that uses an (old!) BT2700HGV Business Hub ADSL router. It has been trouble free until recently, the external IP is provided by DHCP and normally starts with 81. However in the last week it has changed to an address which should not be given out, it begins with 10. which is a private address range. Switching off and on the router does not restore an 81 address just a different 10 one. Using the diagnostics I cannot ping any external addresses, the gateway and the DNS are what I would normally.

Given a reboot allocated a new address in the 10. range, is BT doing this to force contact for a potential equipment upgrade due to the upcoming PSTN switch off? I'm assuming this line will need updated to a SOGEA with new hardware installed.

I have not yet identified who is responsible for the line (billing etc) so have not contacted anyone about it. I don't think there is anything I can do to restore the service but just checking if anyone has experienced anything similar.

Hi Stuart

It's been a while since I've dealt with a 2700, does it tell you what firmware version the software is on for that router settings?
