I've recently got the Business Hub 2 (upgrading from old business hub model). I need to change it's IP address from 192.168.1.254 to 192.168.5.254 but keep getting the error "These IP settings are not valid on the BT Business Smart Hub."

Some IP ranges are blocked in the hub. 5.254 isn't a standard LAN range - our hubs can only be configured for the 3 most common ranges. If you're looking to change it to a custom IP, you would need to buy a 3rd party router.
