Hybrid Connect External Antennas - Need to be enabled?

If I connect external antennas to the back of my Hybrid Connect unit do I need to do anything to enable them or will they permanently and automatically be used by the device in preference to the internal antenna within the unit? Do I need to go into any web interface for either the Smart Hub 2 or directly into the Hybrid Connect itself, if it has a gateway page, to enable the external antennas, or disable the internal antennas? I imagine I don't want a situation where the device will randomly switch between the two, or worse not use the external ones if not actively enabled.

Hi barrind

Yes the Hybrid Connect can be used with external antennas. It automatically detects when they have been plugged in and will use them over the internal antennas, you don't need to do any configuration on the device itself in order to get them to work.  That being said, we (BT) don't actually support external antennas for the Hybrid Connect, so whilst customers like yourself are free to buy some and plug them in yourselves, we don't sell them and can't offer recommendations on which ones to buy.  Likewise, if a customer needs help installing them etc. we can't support there either.

I have found a post on the residential community about this topic that might be of use to you: https://community.bt.com/t5/Archive-Staging/Hybrid-Connect-attaching-additional-antennas/td-p/214106...

When I received my Hybrid Connect I never received any external antennas? Where would I be able to obtain these?
