Hi,
We are a Heritage Railway, with a remote Station and Workshop complex. Our Broadband is used by our volunteer staff and customer on running days and any volunteer's on non running days, but our alarm systems and CCTV also go through this. We are in a quite remote area and our Broadband is ADSL(with no local FTTC) with enhanced 4G hybrid to bring our broadband speed up to 15-20 mbps download and more importantly >5 mbps Upload speed.
I would like to do a speedtest & health check on the broadband 2 or 3 times a week. Currently I swing past the site every Friday and do a speedtest from outside the site or from the Guards van on a running day.
If I could remotely ensure the enhanced 4G hybrid was working with a good signal I would be happy. Also if it looses its 4G I want to be able to reboot the 4G hybrid unit & SH2 router remotely.
I don't want to install a PC working 24/7 just to do this. Please can anybody help with this challenge.
Hello,
You need to set up a VPN (Virtual Private Network) or Dynamic DNS (DDNS) on your network. This creates a secure "tunnel" from your home phone or laptop directly into the station's router, allowing you to check the 4G signal bars as if you were sitting in the booking office. openskycc com
