I’m disgusted,I upgraded my BT business broadband & was asked to return my old equipment which I did, then months later I have received a bill that says overdue,I’ve rang up & they say I need to give them £76 as I haven’t sent the equipment,I assured them that I have but have thrown the post office receipt as I just presumed it was all sorted as it was so long ago,now they are asking for £76,I’m not paying I’m going to try & cancel my new broadband package,it’s a problem at their end when they receive the packages they aren’t logging them,I run a Facebook page with over 15,000 members & I’m a member of a UK licensing group with over 40,000 members so I’m going to expose this scam to all the other members so they don’t get ripped off by BT (July 2024)
Hi Azz
I'm sorry to hear you've been charged incorrectly for non-returned equipment. Can you please send over a private message with some account details so I can look into this for you?
I’m really sorry to hear about your frustrating experience with BT. Here are some steps you can take to address this issue:
Contact BT Business Support:
Explain your situation clearly and calmly. Mention that you returned the equipment and no longer have the receipt.
Ask them to check their records again for any discrepancies.
Escalate the Issue:
If the initial support doesn’t resolve your issue, ask to speak to a manager or escalate the complaint.
You can also file a formal complaint through BT Business’s complaints page1.
Document Everything:
Keep a record of all communications with BT, including dates, times, and the names of the representatives you speak with.
Consider Alternative Dispute Resolution:
If BT doesn’t resolve the issue, you can contact the Communications Ombudsman for further assistance2.
Canceling Your Package:
If you decide to cancel your BT Business broadband package, you can call BT on [REMOVED]. Be sure to have your account number ready.
Public Awareness:
If you feel strongly about sharing your experience, you can certainly use your social media platforms to inform others. Just ensure your posts are factual and respectful to avoid any potential legal issues.
