I was self employed and had a business account for my shop with BT for broadband and digital phone line. A year into my contract I took cancer and had to close my business as I was unable to work and my shop was loosing money. I contact BT in January 2024 to see if I could cancel my contract as my shop was closing because of my cancer. I was told I could not cancel my contract with out paying termination fees, I asked was there anything I could do like move my broadband to my home address to continue the contract so I did not have to cancel it. I was told I could do that, at no time was I told that I had to cancel my original contract and take out a new contract for another 24 months. (I had to cancel all my shop contract with O2, electric, etc and was able to terminate contacts without any charges because of my cancer.) Recently I contacted BT to see when my contract was ending only to be told i had taken a new contract out in January 2024 when I moved my broadband to my home address, this I was not told. I had to close my shop as it was loosing money due to the fact I could not work due to chemo treatment, I do not understand how bt do not help people like me when all other companies do. Is there nothing in their policy to say that they allow for this happening to someone.
Because of what they told me I asked for my shop broadband to be move to a new address, I did not ask to cancel my account as I was told I couldn't, it was just to move location to continue my contract
