Unifi UXG Lite & BT FTTC Connection

Hi ,

Was wondering if anyone has set up Unifi UXG Lite gateway with a BT FTTC Connection.

My former setup was a BT Business Hub 2 set to Bridge Mode and a Draytek Vigor 2830n Router configured with a PPoE connection using my username and password supplied 12 years ago - This setup works fine with no issues .

I have been trying to setup a Unifi UXG lite and replace the Draytek with that so that I can manage the network at my business address from home where everything is unifi but I can't seem to get a PPoE connection on the USG lite . I noticed that the BT Business Hub when it connects uses a generic BT login with no password - I have also tried this username on the UXG lite without the password and still don't get a connection .

I have also tried replacing the business hub with an Openreach ECI modem with Lan 1 connected to the internet port of the UXG-lite - The Modem is connecting as it gets a steady DSL light after a few moments  , but again no internet connection, so I am thinking that it must just be the connection details -The only other options are

Clone mac Address

VLAN ID

MSS Clamping  AUTO   Disabled  Custom

DNS Server  AUTO  Custom

These are the basic GUI options on initial setup - If you go to the unifi controller there are further options (see attached screenshot)

I have seen on other unifi forums that some people have said that the VLAN ID should be set to 101 which I haven't tried yet - I see if I choose this option it brings up a futher Option of QoS Tag with options 1-7 ?

The issue with the GUI setup, You can't actually see why the connection is failing ,it just shows a testing internet screen then returns with error "there is no connection to the internet"Screenshot 2025-04-04 at 08.31.11.pngScreenshot 2025-04-03 at 18.39.08.png

I was wondering if I should clone the Mac Address of the business hub just in case the connection is looking for that mac address on connection .

Any help with this would be much appreciated
