Hi,
I'm in the process of moving a clients website from BT to Siteground, including mailboxes.
How can I export mailbox contents to be imported into the new hosting? Sync seems to fail with any desktop app and webmail has the Export function removed.
I'm sure I'll have to try and contact BT support for other issues but this is the first time I've come across mailboxes that seem to be locked to the host (or MS in this instance).
Thanks,
Paul.
Hi paulbursnall
Are these domain emails hosted via us? Or btconnect mailboxes?
BT act as registrar, host, and email provider. The domain is solidsurfacenortheast.co.uk
Hi paulbursnall
As POP access has been switched off, there is no direct way to take a backup of all current emails.
There are however, 2 workarounds:
1. See bulk export section here: https://superuser.com/questions/1214535/can-you-export-your-emails-in-outlook-web-app
2. See magz reply here: https://business.forums.bt.com/t5/Email-and-hosting/Can-I-save-my-emails-from-being-lost/td-p/88355/...
Hi Beth,
Using Thunderbird and the Owl for Exchange extension I've moved the entire contents of one BT mailbox to a new one on SiteGround (will post instructions for others later).
However, forwarding from the BT mailbox doesn't work. Adding in the old MyOffice panel "fails to update", and after adding a forwarding rule in OWA emails are bounced back with the error:
Remote server returned '550 5.7.520 Access denied, Your organization does not allow external forwarding. Please contact your administrator for further assistance. AS(7555)'
Can you advise please?
Thanks,
Paul.
Hi paulbursnall
It sounds like external forwarding is blocked on these email addresses, I can ask the Tech team to look into this. Can you please send over a private message with the account details?
